You might remember my cute heart-shaped Valentine’s Day Dog Treats from last year. Yummy, healthy, and sweetened with beets! This year I wanted to keep it extra simple with this Strawberry Muffin Dog Treat Recipe.
We have had a mild winter in Michigan but have been met with brutal cold and nearly a foot of snow this past week! Creating this Strawberry Muffin Dog Treat Recipe with fresh strawberries was a friendly little reminder that Spring will be here before we know it.

What did the dogs think of this Strawberry Muffin Dog Treat Recipe?
Well, they loved them! I always use ingredients I know the dogs will love when developing a treat recipe. I just wanted treats that required minimal effort and a small handful of ingredients. You only need a blender, mixing bowl, spatula, a mini muffin baking tray, and ingredients.
I am unsure how these will turn out or if the dogs will like them. However, these got the stamp of approval from each dog! Therefore, I will likely work them into our regular homemade treat rotation.
What do you need for these Valentine’s Day Dog Treat Muffins?
You won’t need much, and all the ingredients are healthy, adding a little natural sweetness thanks to the apples, bananas, and strawberries. Simple ingredients include fresh strawberries, unsweetened applesauce, banana, chickpea flour, and whole-grain quick oats.

1 Cup of fresh strawberries, chopped, divided
1/2 Cup of Unsweetened Applesauce*
1 Ripe Banana
1 Cup of Chickpea Flour
1/2 Cup of Quick Oats
Directions
- Preheat oven t 375 F
- Wash and chop one cup of strawberries into small pieces, set aside.
- In a small blender add one ripe banana, 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce, and 1/4 cup of your chopped strawberries. Purée into a liquid.
- Add your oats and chickpea flour to a mixing bowl. Pour in your strawberry, banana, applesauce purée. Gently fold together until completely combined. Gently fold in the remaining 3/4 cup of chopped strawberries.
- Drop a tablespoon amount of the muffin mixture into each mini muffin mold. I was able to make 11 mini muffins. I used a silicone muffin pan so it did not require muffin liners or greasing of the pan. If using a metal mini muffin tray you will want to use liners or lightly grease with coconut oil.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes. My muffins to the full 18 minutes. Allow to cool completely and enjoy! These can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Notes
- Oven times may vary. Check your muffins at 15 minutes to check for doneness.

- It is important to make sure you are using unsweetened applesauce – No added sugar and no artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweetener can be toxic to dogs.
