Watermelon Dog Cake Recipe

This Watermelon Dog Cake Recipe is so easy that I have no doubt you’ll honestly be making it all summer for your dog.

You may remember that we adopted Elvis from Hoosier Bulldog Rescue in October of last year. I’ve had this Watermelon Dog Cake Recipe in mind for him for months now. We’re a little late celebrating his fifth birthday, May 10th – but life has been so busy!

I am so happy that I was able to take a minute to slow down and celebrate how amazing Elvis is. Something in my heart told me that a watermelon cake to celebrate his fabulous dog birthday was the perfect treat.

How easy is the Watermelon Dog Cake Recipe?

Watermelon pupcake

Well, it’s so easy that I wasn’t even sure it would qualify as a blog post. So I decided to make it a triple-layer cake. It could be summarized like this: Cut three different-sized pieces of watermelon, stack them on top of each other, and use a melon baller to scoop a few pieces of cantaloupe and honeydew for edible decoration; serve and celebrate!

I used biscuit cutters to cut perfect circle shapes for each watermelon layer. I also used a small heart cookie cutter to add a piece of heart-shaped honeydew to the top of the cake. Then I used a melon baller to scoop pieces of honeydew and cantaloupe for a little flavor variety.

You can keep this cake as simple or be as creative as you want. However, to follow this watermelon dog cake recipe exactly, you will need Fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew.

Are there any health benefits to feeding my dog watermelon, canteloupe, and honeydew?

My favorite thing about this recipe is that melons are low-calorie and have a lower effect on blood sugar levels; all three different melons are 89% or more water. The three melons used in the recipe contain Vitamin K, Fiber, Potassium, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B6.

Honeydew health benefits can be great for the circulatory system, cantaloupes benefits can positively affect kidney health, and watermelon contains Lycopene, which can potentially help reduce the risk of various cancers.

How’s that sound? An indulgent Watermelon Pupcake Recipe that is also good for your dog. Bonus: There’s no reason that you can’t enjoy a little bit of this Watermelon Dog Birthday Cake too!
