Are you ready to learn how to make the easiest pies for your dog? Keep reading for my four ingredient Peanut Butter Banana Pie Dog Treats…
When I heard it was National Pie Day on January 23rd, I knew I wanted to treat my dogs to their own special pie dog treats. Who doesn’t love pie?! Most importantly, I kept this pie treat recipe for my dogs super simple. I managed to get this peanut-butter-banana-pie recipe to work with only four ingredients. If only I could find a pie to bake for myself that was this easy.

Not only are the ingredients for these dog pie treats healthy, but the process is pretty simple too. You’re going to combine your crust ingredients, form them in your muffin pan, and bake. Once they’ve finished baking and have cooled, you will mix the filling ingredients and fill your pie shells.
For these Peanut Butter Banana Pie Dog Treats I used my silicone cupcake liners to form and bake the pie crusts.
At last, you can either pop them in the freezer for a little bit for a creamy consistency – or – let your dog enjoy these Peanut Banana Pie Dog Treats immediately. I do recommend breaking the pie into smaller pieces and allowing your dog to enjoy their pie from their dog bowl.
What You’ll Need for Peanut Butter Banana Pie Filling:

- 1 and 1/2 Cups of Oat Flour
- 1/2 Cup of Unsweetened Applesauce

Ingredients
One Large Ripe Banana (Mashed)
1/2 Cup of Peanut Butter (Make sure it does NOT contain Xylitol)
- Pie Crust Ingredients
1 1/2 Cups of Oat Flour
1/2 Cup of Unsweetened Applesauce
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350 F. Prep a muffin tin with 8 muffin liners or use your silicone muffin liners.
- Combine the unsweetened applesauce and oat flour. You will have a slightly sticky dough.
- I used an ice cream scoop to scoop equal amounts of dough into 8 muffin liners. I then used the back of my ice cream scoop to create and indent in the center so the pie filling would sit nicely in the center. See the photo below as an example. I formed the sides with my fingers so that the dough was evenly distributed in the liner. Using a fork gently poke a few holes in the bottom of your crust. This will prevent your crust center from getting puffy while baking.
- Bake your crusts for 15 minutes. They will turn a nice golden brown. You will want to let them cool completely before removing them from their liners and adding the filling.
- To make the filling: Thoroughly mash your banana and mix in your dog’s favorite peanut butter (Make sure it does not contain Xylitol). Chill in the fridge or the freezer until you’re ready to put your filling into your pie crusts.
Notes
- Oat Flour can easily be made by running quick oats through your food processor.
- Make sure your peanut butter does not contain Xylitol. Xylitol is considered toxic to dogs. Try to aim for limited ingredients and low sugar content in your peanut butter. See my recommendations in this blog entry for great peanut butter brands.
- This is a treat and not meant to be fed on a regular basis. Please consult your vet before introducing any homemade treats into your dogs diet.
- I recommend breaking the pies up into bite size pieces in your dogs food bowl.
- These treats do not store well. I tested the pie recipe by using only half of the ingredients and it created four perfect pie crusts. So this recipe can easily be cut in half. You can store the empty pie crusts in the fridge for up to one week in the fridge. Fill the stored pie crusts with fresh filling when you’re ready to feed your dog another pie treat.
Always consult with your vet about dog treats, treat ingredients, and any other dietary concerns for your pet. All of my suggestions above are merely suggestions – consulting with your Vet is the only way to know if a treat is right for your dog. All opinions of the dog treats are my own.
