Blueberry Apple No Bake Pupcake

I will help you make celebrating your dog’s birthday easy with this easy Blueberry Apple No Bake Pupcake recipe!

It’s hard to believe we are celebrating Yoda’s fifth birthday on September 23rd. Yoda is the beginning of my Peace, Love, and Frenchie Farts story. He sparked my love for making homemade dog treats because of his food sensitivities. So I am happy to celebrate him this year with a Blueberry Apple No Bake Pupcake.

If you think your dog might enjoy a mixed berry pupcake – you can check out Okja’s No Bake Mixed Berry Pupcake from earlier this year.

*Always consult with your vet before introducing new foods to your dog. Be mindful of food sensitivities and introduce new foods slowly. This recipe is simply just a treat for your dog and not meant to replace a full balanced meal or diet.

Blueberry Apple No Bake Pupcake

This Apple Blueberry No Bake Pupcake is fantastic because you don’t have to turn on your oven, it only contains healthy ingredients, and it’s pretty easy to whip up.

  • Blueberry: Low-calorie, they contain antioxidants, Vitamins C and K, fiber, and their nutrients support the immune system.
  • Apples (Unsweetened Applesauce): High in fiber, Vitamins A & C, and is a good source of antioxidants.
  • Oats: Oats are an excellent wheat alternative for dogs sensitive to wheat. Oats are a healthy carbohydrate and contain Vitamin B, Copper, Magnesium, Calcium, and Iron.
  • Peanut Butter (single ingredient): Source of protein, healthy fats, Vitamin B, and Vitamin E. [Single ingredient peanut butter is best, but always make sure the peanut butter you’re serving your pup does NOT contain Xylitol.]
  • Coconut Oil: Aid digestion, can promote skin health, help bad breath, fights harmful bacteria.
  • Honey: (optional – do not give honey to dogs under one year of age): Antioxidant, Vitamins A, C, and E, immunity booster.

What you will need for the Blueberry Apple No Bake Pupcake

You will need all of the ingredients listed above. The honey is optional and can only be fed to dogs over one year of age. Honey will not make or break this recipe – it just adds a nice sweetness.

I love the Coconut Oil from Natural Dog Company, but as long as you’re using organic, single-ingredient coconut oil, then you should be OK. If this is your dog’s first time trying coconut oil, introduce it slowly. Coconut oil is generally OK for dogs but can cause loose stool in some dogs.

The ASPCA is an excellent resource for learning about safe foods to share with your dog. I used a mini springform pan for this recipe, but you could easily divide the recipe into 4-5 cupcake molds. You will also need a food processor for this recipe.

Blueberry Apple Layer

  • 1/2 C. Oat Flour

  • 1/4 C. Unsweetened Applesauce (never feed sweetened or artificially sweetened applesauce to your dog)

  • 1/4 C. Fresh or Frozen Blueberries

  • 1 TBSP Melted Coconut Oil

  • 1/4 tsp. Organic Honey (Optional – Do not feed honey to dogs under one year old.)

  • Peanut Butter Oat Base
  • 1/2 C. Quick Oats

  • 3 TBSP Single-Ingredient Peanut Butter

Directions

  • Combine ingredients listed under Peanut Butter Oat Base. Stir well and press into the bottom of your small springform pan or cupcake molds. Place this in the refrigerator while you prepare the blueberry layer.
  • Puree blueberries, unsweetened applesauce, and honey (optional) in a blender until smooth. Pour into a bowl.
  • Pour blueberry mixture on top of your peanut butter oat base. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours before letting your dog enjoy their pupcake. Be mindful of the appropriate serving size for your individual dog. I split this cake four ways so each of my pups could have a slice.
  • Add oat flour and melted coconut oil to the same bowl. Mix all ingredients together.
