DIY Pumpkin Dog Donuts

Do you have National Donut Day marked on your calendar? I knew I had to create donuts for the dogs. These Pumpkin Dog Donuts are so easy, and they were really fun to make!

Pumpkin Dog Donuts

These DIY Pumpkin Dog Donuts only require five ingredients, and one of them is optional! I used a mini silicone donut mold, but you could easily use any smaller silicone mold. Donut treat shapes are so fun, though!

Also, did you know my recipes are always egg, wheat, and dairy-free? I don’t always mention that. We have quite a few food sensitivities in our house, so I always try to develop recipes that don’t require eggs, wheat, or dairy.

Pumpkin Dog Treat Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Brown Rice Four. (I love Bob’s Red Mill Brown Rice Flour.)
  • 1 1/3 Cup of roughly chopped fresh strawberries
  • 3/4 Cup of canned pumpkin (Make sure this is 100% pure pumpkin and NOT pumpkin pie filling.)
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 TBPS of Chia Seeds (This is optional and only needed if you’re making the chia strawberry jam.)
  • You will also need a blender if you’re making the strawberry chia jam. If not you only need a mixing bowl, measuring tools, a mixing spoon, and your silicone donut molds.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Brown Rice Flour

  • 1 1/4 Cup of roughly chopped Strawberries (Set 1/4 cup aside to mix in your donut batter.)

  • 3/4 Cup of canned 100% Pure Pumpkin

  • 1/4 Cup of water

  • 2 TBSP of chia seeds (Optional, you only need this if making the strawberry chia jam for the center of your donuts.)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F
  • Make your strawberry chia jam first if you’re choosing to use it. Purée 1 cup of your roughly chopped strawberries, place in a small bowl, mix in 2 TBSP of chia seeds, allow to sit for about 10 minutes while you prepare the donut batter. The chia seeds allow the strawberry purée to thicken and it will turn into a dog-safe strawberry jam!Pumpkin dog donuts
  • Add the brown rice flour and canned pumpkin to a mixing bowl. Thoroughly combine with a spatula or spoon. Gently fold in 1/4 cup of your chopped strawberries.
  • A) If you’re not making the chia seed jam, you can add your donut batter into your silicone mold. These do not rise so you can fill your molds all the way to the top.
    B) If you ARE making the jam filled donuts, fill your mold halfway with donut batter, then spread a very thin layer of the chia seed jam, then fill your mold the rest of the way with more pumpkin batter.
  • Bake your donuts for 17-20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before removing from the silicone mold. Store in an airtight container, in the fridge, for 5-7 days.

Notes

  • Make sure you are using 100% pure pumpkin and NOT pumpkin pie filling.
  • Oven times may vary.
