Hip and joint issues have recently become a concern in our home. As Zeke is aging we’ve seen loss of muscle mass in his hind legs and issues with mobility. Zeke is an American Staffordshire Terrier and they are prone to hip and joint issues. This is my first time dealing with an issue like this and I kind of didn’t know where to start. As you know, I am skeptical of dog supplements. There’s an abundance of information on the web and my Instagram is often flooded with so many different brands that it feels overwhelming to find something that I believe might actually work. I knew Zeke needed a daily supplement though so I started educating myself on what to look for.

Hip & Joint Supplement Ingredients:

  • Curcumin ( Tumeric Root extract): This is a great supplement for humans and dogs. This helps enhance joint function and connective tissue. It also helps to support flexibility.
  • Glucosamine: Helps stimulate the building blocks of cartilage, helps maintain synovial fluid which reduces friction during movement.
  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids: You’ll probably see this listed as Fish Oil or Salmon Oil. Fish Oil has amazing anti-inflamatory properties which is really important when dealing with joint pain!
  • Chondroitin: This works together with Glucosamine to reduce the symptoms of Arthritis.
  • MSM: I actually take an MSM supplement and I cannot even tell you how much it helps with relaxing my muscles and helping my joints. This supplement naturally has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It also helps to slow the breakdown of cartilage as our pups age.

Cool, I did all of my research and had a better understanding of necessary and quality ingredients in joint health supplements. Now what? I am bombarded with sponsored ads so how do I find something that really works from a company I trust?

Can I suggest a tip to help you and add to your research regimen? Search Instagram hashtags of the brands you’re considering. I think this is where you can find the most recent and honest reviews. Another perk is that I’ve found most dog parents are eager to share their success stories with certain brands and will usually respond to you if you have specific questions about their experience.

So I researched quite a few different supplements and in the end I decided to go with Rocco & Roxie’s Hip & Joint Supplement. Why? I’ve already had a great experience with many of their other products, this supplement has amazing reviews, I touched base with a few other pet parents who had seen results via Instagram, their supplement has all of the ingredients mentioned above (PLUS many other necessary ingredients), it was a good price point, and it shipped really quickly. They also have a quality guarantee so if you don’t see results they will refund you! Please check their website for more details on their guarantee policy. I also love it when products are available through a direct site AND through Amazon. I’ve been known to be forgetful so that two-day Prime shipping really comes in handy sometimes.

They guarantee this product will put more pep in your pups step in 4-6 weeks. Like I said – I am always skeptical about these kind of things. I was honestly speechless when we hit the TWO week mark and Zeke literally had more pep in his step. No joke, hopping around like a little bunny, he seemed more interested in playing, and he had less issues getting up and down stairs. I was so pleasantly surprised by being able to see real results. Other perks include that these smell pretty good, they’re large soft chews, and they can even be crumbled on top of your pups food. I’ve even manged to stuff a pill in these when Zeke needed pain medication.

In summary – I love this supplement, it’s worked noticeably well for Zeke, and I would recommend it to anyone searching for a more natural option to treat joint issues. It’s hard to know where to start with these things and I hope I gave you a little insight on what to look for. As always you should consult with your vet before starting your pet on any supplements. I am also excited to announce Zeke is scheduled to start laser and hydrotherapy. I can’t wait to share our experience with you guys in the next few months.
