I even loved these Watermelon Jerky Dog Treats! Dehydrated Watermelon tastes fabulous.

My goal is always to keep our dog treat recipes super simple. These Watermelon Jerky Dog Treats are so simple that I wasn’t even sure if I could write a whole blog post about them!

I’ve seen Watermelon Jerky Dog Treats on Pinterest, and I decided that I wanted to give them a try. Especially after I finally committed to buying a dehydrator which has been one of my favorite purchases! You can create so many different dog treats with a dehydrator.

The best part is you can use it to create a lot of different single ingredient dog treats. So if you have a dog with food allergies, single-ingredient treats are a great option. If you don’t have a dehydrator you can try my super easy Cucumber Watermelon Dog Treats. They’re actually my most popular recipe on Pinterest!

Is Watermelon Safe for Dogs?

Is watermelon safe for dogs

The short answer is yes. As with all homemade dog treats or human food, you should always consult with your vet before giving your dogs new foods. All dogs are different, and some may be more sensitive to certain foods than other dogs.

With that being said, my dogs love watermelon, and we have lots of dog friends that also enjoy watermelon. It’s low in sugar compared to others and is 92% water! Which also makes it an excellent low calorie snack.

Some essential things to consider when giving your dog watermelon is that you should never feed your dog any portion of the watermelon rind. You should also remove any black seeds and the tiny white seeds. These both come with a potential risk of intestinal blockage if your dog consumes them. Luckily both are easy to remove.

I used a small seedless watermelon for these Watermelon Jerky Dog Treats. I removed as many tiny white seeds as possible, but it was easy to pop them out of the watermelon jerky after being done in the dehydrator as well.

I have to admit that I even loved these Watermelon Jerky Treats…
